How Instagram’s New Google Search Update Helps Real Estate Agents Get Found (And What To Do Now)

Jul 11, 2025

Big news dropped this month, and if you’re in real estate, you need to hear this.

As a real estate content marketer, it’s my job to write posts that help my members get found first — by buyers and sellers who are ready to make moves. And as of July 10, 2025, this just got a whole lot easier.

🔍 Here’s What’s New

Instagram just announced that your public photos and videos may soon appear in Google Search results.

That means your listings, local market updates, buyer and seller value tips, and neighborhood posts don’t just stay on Instagram — they can show up when people search on Google too.

More visibility. More reach. More chances for people to discover you, even if they’ve never seen your profile before.

📈 What This Means For You

In plain English?
Your posts need to be searchable.

It’s not enough anymore to throw up a pretty house photo with a “New Listing!” caption and a few hashtags, after all this isn't 2015. If you want to get found by serious buyers and sellers, your posts need to show up for the words they’re actually Googling.

🗝️ How To Make Your Posts SEO-Ready

This is exactly how I write posts for my Content to Closings members so their content works for them — on Instagram and now in Google:

Use real keywords. Think about what your ideal client is typing into Google: “homes with pools in Gilbert AZ” or “how to buy your first house in Austin.” Use those phrases naturally in your captions.

Add local details. Neighborhoods, cities, nearby schools, parks — these location-specific words help search engines understand your content and connect you with local leads.

Answer real questions. Write captions that are helpful. Tips for first-time buyers, staging advice for sellers, how to prep your house before listing — these all show up in search!

🏡 Example: Before & After

Here’s a simple example:

Old caption:

“Just listed! 🏠✨”

Optimized caption:

“Just listed: 3-bedroom family home for sale in Charlotte, NC — perfect for first-time buyers looking for a fenced backyard and top-rated schools nearby.”

See the difference? The second version is exactly what someone might type into Google or Instagram search.

🎁 One More Bonus Tip: Use ALT TEXT

Want to show up in search even more?
Add ALT TEXT to your images!

Alt text tells Google what’s in your photo. For real estate agents, this is super valuable. It means you can describe the property, location, and key features — giving search engines even more context to connect you with the right audience.

How to write good real estate ALT TEXT:

  • Describe exactly what’s in the photo (e.g., “modern kitchen remodel in Scottsdale”)

  • Use relevant keywords naturally — no awkward stuffing

  • Add location if it’s important (city, neighborhood)

  • Mention standout features buyers search for (pool, big backyard, open floor plan)

  • Keep it short and clear — 1–2 sentences max

💡 Why This Update Is A Big Deal

More keywords mean more ways to get found.
With Google now crawling your Instagram posts, every caption you share can work twice as hard: bringing you organic traffic from both Instagram and Google Search.

That’s more eyes on your listings, more buyers and sellers discovering you first, and more chances for them to slide into your DMs or pick up the phone.
